Problems I faced as a new NFT artist

Updated: Sep 30, 2024

Before diving in to this post, I want to start by highlighting that all our experiences are different, they might be similar but they will never be the same.

These are some of the issues I faced on the beginning of my journey and I hope you can avoid them and identify before running into them.

  • The cryptocurrency knowledge barrier.

For someone who only know bitcoin as a digital currency and nothing else, I had to spend more than a month just reading and watching videos online to learn more about crypto and why it’s here in the first place, if you’re starting now please do your best to learn more about crypto and just watch what others are doing.

Most of us here are still figuring out what to do exactly so watch carefully and find what’s good for you and experiment with it.

  • The fact that this is all new.

Since this is all new to us and anyone getting to know it will soon realize that it’s here to stay so they just do anything to start in hopes to make quick money.

I was one of those people one day too, you might be one now.

Avoid scams like “how I made money with NFT easy” it’s not easy!

It will take a lot of work and effort to get noticed.

You might get lucky and make a sh*t ton of money in a very short time but it will be a momentary gain!

Go through the learning process so you can better implement your ideas with NFTs.

  • Giveaways.

Starting a giveaway to get people to know or promote your project or collection is fine and all, but when you as an artist giveaway your art for free you’re devaluing your art!

Do what you want with the giveaway it’s totally up to you.

But remember “easy come, easy go” have your giveaway revolve around something that will either provide your participants with value or even just an experience.

That, I think would make it more personal for them so when they get it for “free” that personal connection with the NFT will have it more valuable to them.

Things to consider if you’re starting new

  • When you start, start small.

This might not be the same for everyone, but in my case, I had to start small and create NFTs one by one and give them away one by one!

Creating a large collection might be good for you, but my point is “Don’t bite more than you can chew” with that in mind know your level and work your way up.

Rushing into this might backfire big time!

Do what you love, enjoy it and accept your process.

  • Don’t compare your growth

You might be tempted to buy fake followers on social media to give the illusion of a successful project. You’re not the first to think of that as MANY of the projects are based on fake followers.

Instead, you can interact with the community and let people know what you’re doing with your project.

Plus as you are being careful with your process as an artist, collectors are even more cautious.

The more you learn about NFT’s you’ll be able to see through the fake projects.

  • Listen to what people say

As an artist, you’re doing it to make people buy your art. What they say will help you a lot!

Learning what your audience needs and providing a solution for that need will do all the heavy lifting for you.

It’s a close cycle of implementing the feedback in your unique way that won’t compromise your project or the holder’s needs.
